Puppy Biting – What You Should Not Do To Stop Your Puppy From Biting
Adopting a puppy is probably one of the most exciting moments of your life. Ultimately, who can resist that adorable and cute face of a puppy?
Every new puppy owner wants to enjoy the company of their puppy. But there is one thing that you have to take note. Now that your puppy is staying with you, every thing you do from today onwards will reinforce his behavior.
Which is why it is so important to start training your puppy as soon as possible. You want to reinforce in your puppy the desirable behaviors, not the undesirable ones.
Another important point you have to take note is that consistency is really important. If you do not want your dog to jump up on other people, then you should not allow your dog to jump up on you. Not even once. You don't want to confuse your dog and make him wonder why it is okay to jump on you but not on other people.
One of the most common problems you probably have to deal with as a puppy owner is its biting behavior. Biting is actually quite common due to the fact that puppies explore their surroundings through biting.
Well, the problems come when your puppy is biting things that he is not supposed to bite. It can be your expensive carpet, your branded shoes or even other people that visit your house.
Remember one thing though. If you want to stop your puppy from biting, don't ever try to slap or hit him. Your puppy might actually think that you are just trying to play with him. This is probably what dogs do to each other anyway when they are playing with each other.
